This book is best-seller which is
written by Tere Liye. This novel gives many moral values. The story will touch
everyone who read this book. Tere Liye’s style in writing this novel must be
imitated by other writer because he is really good in combining the words until
creating this book. I can get many values from this especially in increasing my
faith to Allah. In general, this book
tells about a family which was Lainuri as a single parent took care of her
children. They were Laisa (as the oldest sister), Dalimunte, Ikanuri, Wibisana,
and Yashinta. In a situation, Laisa helped her mother to take care of her
brothers and sister. Laisa was very kind woman, and she was also a hard-worker.
Unfortunately, she was different from
her brothers and sister because actually she was their step sister. Her
appearance was not as well as her brothers and sister but she really care about
them. She did everything to keep her brothers an sister get school as well.
Then, Dalimunte was smarter than the other and he also really cared about
Laisa. He knew that Laisa was very responsible sister and never beef about her
trouble. Because of Laisa’s hard effort, all of her brothers and sister
(Dalimunte, Ikanuri, Wibisana, and Yashinta) became successful. When her
brother, Dalimunte, was twenty five years old he had a girl friend namely Cie
Hui. Dalimunthe loved her but he did not want to be married early than his
oldest sister, Laisa. But Laisa coerced Dalimunthe to marry Cie Hui and he did
it.
Time by time the main character, Laisa, was
almost 40th but she still did not meet her partner. Dalimunthe and her mother
met some men for Laisa but their plan always failed. Laisa felt so
disappointed because there was not any man to marry her but she always tried
to be strong in front of her family. Until her 40th and her brothers and sister
had married, she still did not get any partner. The end of this story was Laisa
got pulmo cancer and passed away while she was still single. This shows that
Laisa is so kind and patient woman. Even though she got many disapprobation,
she never felt resentment and never gave up to her condition. When Laisa was
going to pass, her brothers and sister were far away. Will her brothers and
sister meet her for the last time?
This book is very touching. I really
felt what this book told about characters. The story is mellow but attractive.
The diction is managable and easy to understand. I can learn that we can not
appraise someone from her appearance but from how kind her heart is. The moral
value is very appropriate for this time because many people see someone from
his or her appearance but this book is on the contrary. That is why, I
recommend you to read this novel. You will know how wonderful the firmness is.
