My Creative Writing 2 process: Experience

EXPERIENCE OF STUDYING WRITING 1

Last semester, I was taught by two lecturers for  WRITING 1, they were Mr.Saunir and Mr.Hafidz. Actually Mr. Hafidz did not teach  my class, but he just replaced Mrs. Witri because Mrs.Witri was eight months pregnance, so she prepared her lovely baby born. Mrs.Witri taught my class for several weeks and I liked studying with her because she explained the lesson clearly. The other lecturers, Mr.Saunir and Mr.Hafidz, were interesting in teaching because I think they had opposite teaching styles. I think the two lecturers had opposite teaching styles because following reasons.

            First, when Mr.Saunir taught, the class became cheerful because he often made a joke and he also often told story to the class, then related the story into a lesson. Mr.Saunir asked the students to respond whatever he was saying while it was just like “yes sir”. The next  is about his rule. Mr.Saunir always came earlier about half to seven and started the class afew minutes before seven. Whereas the habit was a litle beat hard to be done in Indonesia, but my class could doing it.

Secondly, as I said before, Mr.Hafidz had opposite teaching styles from Mr.Saunir. He taught a little serious, so I often felt sleepy when he was teaching. You know, I do not like studying seriously for a long time, I need some jokes to be always attention to the lesson. Actually, I also like teaching style of Mr.Hafidz, because he gave the students many practices of writing. So that we began to be habitually wrote what we are thinking about. Mr.Hafidz ever came late to the class for several times, but it was not too late.

Although the two lecturers are different in teaching, actually both of them were very influential for me because they always asked the students practice as often as possible. So that many students understand how to write well. In the other hand,  I was still hard to get an idea to develop my essay. I have a difficulty  combining one paragraph to another in order the essay be coherence. I think the most important thing is I have to study harder than before and practice more to get a good skill in writing as Mr.Saunir and Mr.Hafidz said.

I believe that there is nothing easy studying in a college, we must had difficulties on it. If we try as hard as we can, we will get a good result. I hope I can do my best in WRITING 2 because I hope my self have good skill in writing, and I can apply my knowledge by sharing it to my students later. Beside that, I really hope to make my own English novel as soon as possible because being a well-known writer is also my ambition.

The Jungle Girl

Long time ago, there was a poor girl named Emily. She lived alone in a village since her parents passed away when she was six years old. Emily did not has any relatives left. At the first time of her parents death, she always cried because she missed them so much. However, she became more forceful after several times passed. Emily did hard effort just for getting food. Sometimes, she got food from another person who felt compassion of her. No body wanted to get her as their child because people who lived in the village were also in bad condition of life.

After several years, Emily grew up and became the most beautiful girl in the village. Many boys and men tried to be closed with her, but she never cared about that. Although she never responded every flattery of the boys, every girl and woman were jealous of her and did not like her. So it really upset Emily. Then, she decided to go away from the village. She went away until she arrived in a jungle. She found many fresh fruits, so she felt happy because she thought that there must be a person who planted the fruits and  the other plants. She tried to look for the person around but she did not find anyone.

When she was sitting under a tree, she heard a sound that was nearer and nearer. In fact, it was sound of a tiger. She was very afraid and submitted to the situation. Suddenly, someone came and said, “Do not be afraid of the tiger, he does not eat meat”. Emily was so surprise to hear the voice and saw an old woman. “How do you know about that?”, Emily asked. “I have been here for a long time and the tiger is my best friend”, answered the old woman. Actually, the old woman was the planter of fresh fruits around the jungle. Emily thanked to her and asked again, “How can you do these?”. By the question, the old woman told Emily about the relationship between the jungle and her. Emily listened to her full of attention.

Furthermore, Emily knew that the old woman was a tamer of animals. The old woman lived there since she was a child. When she had a picnic with her family, she escaped from them and she arrived in the jungle. She did it because she really liked animals, she wanted to meet all kind of them but she really lost. By the accident, she tried  to be closed with the animals in the jungle and she did it. At the first, Emily was very astonished with the old woman but she understand more about that when she was known to each animal there. Emily felt comfortable with them because she did not find envies and abhorences each of them like she has found in her village. After that, the old woman said, “I am too old now, I worry about this jungle and all animals here. I am afraid if they extinct one by one. Would you replace me for keeping this jungle ?”. “ Hhm, do not say like that”, Emily answered. The old woman asked her again, “Would you help me and all animals here?”.

At the last, Emily did what the old woman asked to her. The old woman inaugurated Emily as the queen and also the protector of the jungle in front of all animals there. She lived in the jungle with the old woman, but the old woman passed away after several years. Emily and all animals in the jungle were very sad but they could corroberate each other. Finally, Emily and all animals in the jungle lived peacefully ever after.

            This is my own story that I get from my imagination. I also get the inspiration from “Fatiyah” film that tells about a girl lived in a jungle since she was a child until she was called as tarzanwati. However, I start the story in different background and also different ending. “Fatiyah” film is started by Fatiyah as a jungle girl that called it as Tarzanwati. Then she becomes a beautiful girl that live in a village after someone met her in the jungle and brought fatiyah to her village and finally she met with her parents. In the other hand, I make this story opposite with the “Fatiyah” film because I do not make it into series or season story, but “Fatiyah” film has sequences of episode. I write my own story more simple and easy to understand by the reader.

            The first thing that I did to write my story was free writing. I wrote my story without thinking of the grammar and the other elements of writing, I just thought about the ideas. Then, I combined every idea to make the essay coherence. Afterthat, I reread my essay while checking my grammar and made sure my story organized. The next step was I chose the best title for my story. I thought writing the story before choosing a title is easier than developing an essay from a title. The last step was I asked my friends to correct or check my essay whether my essay has many mistakes or not. Then I gave my essay to my lecturer to make sure that it was based on requirements of good writing.
